1st Annual Wheels of Fortune girls skateboard contest
Thank you so much for all of your support with Skate Like a Girl's first major contest in forever AND first cash purse / ladies only skate contest in the Northwest. We had over 30 contestants
from all over the Northwest join in on a day of really amazing skateboarding. Local female artists (179 and Jackie Danger),
and musicians (the Valkryies, and DJ lil Aremenia) helped add to this skate jam.
We are so lucky to have
Ugly Girls like yours help support our mission, vision, and values. After the contest we got a flood of emails from
parents of skaters expressing how much this contest meant to them.
Autumn Maddux who took first in the beginners
division was so excited that she won, her dad wrote: "I just wanted to say as a skate boarding dad, my daughter had a
great time. This was only her second contest, she is only 8 years old. I am very proud and happy that someone has done something
like this for girls. This was the first time she has seen girls on the skateboard."
Your support helps us
strengthen our mentorship model that enables young women like 19 year-old Kristin Ebeling who co-organized the contest and
took second in advanced to be a leader in her local skate community by conceptualizing and organizing contests like Wheels
of Fortune!
Girls have not been as supported at the level as male skater, and for your company to give, we are
stoked that you are here to make girl skating as legit!
On the behalf of Skate Like a Girl, thank you for
your support and hope to partner with you in the future!
